Jan Jansen
His First Guitar
Jan was 11 years old when he got his first guitar with nylon strings.
After a few guitar lessons, he quickly discovered he preferred playing by feel and listening closely. By playing with friends and exchanging ideas, techniques and music, his guitar playing progressed rapidly. His heroes and biggest influences included Jimi Hendrix, Robert Fripp, Steve Hackett, Jeff Beck, Steve Cropper and Chuck Berry.
It wasn’t until he was 20 that Jan bought his first electric guitar, paid for with money he borrowed from his sister. Around that time he also played his first live show. In the years that followed, he played in various bands, including Q’bus, Mac Taple, The Backbones and Buckshot.

Collaboration with Jed Jones
Jan met Jed during an annual school performance of their children. Jed played in the backing band.
During his touring period with The Bogus Brothers, Jed wrote a number of songs that stayed on the shelf due to busy schedules, with the intention of recording and releasing them one day.
After their intensive collaboration, these songs were eventually released on the LP Breaking Waves.
